Ride St. Charles Streetcar out to
the Audubon Park and Zoo, which is directly across the street from the Loyola
University. What a beautiful section of town.
The zoo shuttle picks you up and takes you to the front gate of the
Zoo, or you have the choice of walking through the park itself.
The grounds are spotless, and
well groomed. The animal habitats are beautiful and clean. This is the first zoo that
actually smelled good.
There are so many exhibits, it takes days to see them all.
Good excuse to go back.
Great restaurants, snack bars, clean restrooms, well marked
trails, every kind of animal, and exotic bird flying and walking free. Several Gift shops
are scattered through the park, and there are rides for the children. The grounds offer
wading pools with rocks to climb and large play areas. The petting zoo, within the zoo is
fun and educational. Of course, everything is handicapped accessable.
