Lafayette Square Park
New Orleans, LA
What a perfect day for a festival. The sun is shining, yet there's a slight chill in the air. I hope you brought your jacket.
Lafayette Square Park is bristling, there's excitement in the air. Look at the happy faces as they taste the gumbo and listen to the music.
Paula and The Pontiacs warm us up with blues, boogie, and soul.
Luther Kent's next. A Louisiana original, with a voice to match his heart.
Guitar Shorty works the crowd into a frenzy as he wanders among us.
Sonny Landreth shows us that "South of I-10" is more than a location. It's a spirit, a culture, which permeates all.
That's just a smattering, less than 1/4 of what we saw.
Ernie Vincent, Cyril Neville, T-Model Ford, Irma Thomas, Bobby Rush, to name a few.
It's getting dark. It's getting cold. Time to go home.
See you next year.
